In 1999, "KISS ME " was released as a single, propelling SIXPENCE NONE THE RICHER (GRAMMY NOMINATED) into the national pop spotlight. That year the song was also featured in the film SHE'S ALL THAT. In 2001 the film NOT ANOTHER TEEN MOVIE would use the song in a parody of that scene. "Kiss Me" was also played on the WB teen drama DAWSON'S CREEK in a number of episodes. 1999, the band recorded a cover of The La's' "There She Goes", which became their second hit single.
It's been nearly eight years since SIXPENCE NONE THE RICHER singer Leigh Nash's winsome vocals invaded radios with the band's summer staple and teen-flick fave "Kiss Me." In that time, Nash has garnered a wealth of material from which to draw inspiration.
Thirteen years with Sixpence, Nash isn't a stranger to solo outings. She recorded the song "Need to Be Next to You" for the soundtrack to the 2000 romantic film BOUNCE, and she made guest appearances on albums by surf-guitar rockers Los Straightjackets and electro-dance outfit Delerium.
